Sega apologizes for recent 'Sonic The Hedgehog' games

It’s no secret that reception towards the newer generation of Sonic The Hedgehog games has been less than satisfactory. The crossover to 3D hasn’t been as smooth as Sonic would’ve preferred.

In a recent interview with Marketing Week, Sega Europe’s marketing director Jon Rooke surprised by apologizing for the quality of recent installments to the franchise. “Sega has publicly apologized to the fans as the quality of console games in the Sonic franchise hasn’t been acceptable over recent years,” he said. “It’s been tough translating that iconic side scrolling 2D experience from the '90s into 3D, but Sonic is still huge for us so the new games will be more inspired by how it played in its heyday,” (via Comic Book).

Well, there you have it: Sega is going to begin gearing Sonic back to the aesthetics we fell in love with in the first place.
