Selfie sticks banned at Disney theme parks

Another loss for selfie stick owners: selfie sticks are no longer allowed in Walt Disney Resorts, including Florida's Disney World and California's Disneyland. Starting next week, Disney Resort employees will remove selfie sticks during bag checks when visitors enter the park. Visitors with selfie sticks will be able to leave their sticks at the park entrance and pick it up on the way out, or return it to the car or hotel from which they came.

The popular smartphone accessory has become something of an epidemic for the alternative music community this year, causing bans at popular music venues and festivals. Many consider the accessory to be unsafe, and thus hazardous to others in a public environment, such as a show or a theme park.
