Shaggy reacts to not getting cast in upcoming 'Scooby-Doo' movie

Another animated Scooby-Doo movie has been in the works over at Warner Bros. for quite some time now, but it seems the film may have finally taken a small step forward. A few voice actors have been cast for the film… but it’s the lack of one actor in particular that’s caused a buzz on the internet.

Zoinks! Where’s Matthew Lillard?!

Directed by Tony Cervone, the voice cast will include Gina Rodriguez as Velma, Will Forte as Shaggy, and Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman. Frank Welker is set to return as Scooby-Doo.

The announcement contains some incredible actors, but the internet quickly began asking once crucial question: where’s Matthew Lillard?

Lillard has been associated with Shaggy ever since his portrayal of the character in the two live-action films. Since the first film’s debut in 2002, Lillard has voiced Shaggy in almost every movie and cartoon, so why wasn’t he cast?

It seems that Lillard was equally surprised by the news, leaving us feeling like we were living a real-life Shaggy meme.

“Well this sucks.

What a crappy way to find out… thanks Hollywood. You never [cease] to amaze me”

Fans were quick to support Lillard, claiming that he was the one and only Shaggy for them.

Who are the meddling kids behind this nonsense?! My gut is telling me it’s Old Man Jenkins…

We’re eager to see who will take on the roles of Freddie and Daphne in the upcoming animated film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The story sees the Mystery Inc. gang join forces with other heroes of the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from Dick Dastardly and his evil plans…and this time, we are told, the threat is real.”

The movie is currently slated for a May 2020 release.
