‘Sharknado’ actor leading ‘Zombie Tidal Wave’ as next ridiculous SyFy film

Sharknado sadly came to an end last year with the sixth and final instalment, The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time, but SyFy isn’t done making incredible films.

Leading Sharknado actor Ian Ziering is set to star and produce their latest original, Zombie Tidal Wave.

The director of the six shark-horror movies, Anthony C. Ferrante, will also be directing Zombie Tidal Wave.

The SyFy original movie is debuting as part of the network’s Off The Deep End weekend on August 17. The event is celebrating all things shark-related by showing the six movies as well as others such as Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda and Dam Sharks.

Ziering’s company I.Man Productions, as well as Darby Parker’s Stronghold Entertainment, will be producing the film. The actor and producer gave a statement saying it’s “incredibly satisfying” to work on the films.

Zombie Tidal Wave offered the opportunity to see my original concept through to release, it is incredibly satisfying to be a creator and work in all facets of the process beyond my contributions as an actor. Darby and I want to continue to curate more projects together in this hands-on manner, and I can’t wait to bring more of my acting and directing peers, and new production partners, along with us.”

The movie focuses on Ziering’s character fighting an ocean-borne outbreak threatening his peaceful island community. The cast have to work to uncover the origins of the outbreak as they fight hordes of zombies.

While Ziering is enjoying the films now, he initially was wary of joining Sharknado. The actor admitted he only signed on to keep his insurance through the Screen Actors Guild union but later enjoyed making the films.
