Earlier this year, Jack appeared on Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed‘s podcast The Jasta Show. During the interview, he shared that plans were definitely in the works for a biopic about his parents.

“There is absolutely things in motion right now to make [the Ozzy and Sharon film] a reality,” Jack said. “I think in the next few months, you’ll probably see something coming up about it. But we haven’t landed [a studio] yet. So, fingers crossed.”

Now, Jack has confirmed that the film is in its early production stages. Although he doesn’t reveal too much, Jack does share that the project officially has a writer.

“We have a writer,” Jack says. “We said to go from 1979 to 1996. I can’t say too much, but the film is an active development.”

Ozzy and Sharon first met in the late ’70s while her father was managing Black Sabbath. After Ozzy was fired from the band for drinking and drugs, Sharon stepped in as his personal manager.

Eventually, Ozzy released his debut solo album Blizzard of Ozz in 1980 which became a top album in the United Kingdom. The couple then married in 1982 after Ozzy divorced his first wife.

As Ozzy shares, the new biopic will depict his early days and marriage to Sharon.

“From what I understand, it’s about Sharon and I and our relationship,” Ozzy says. “It’s how we met, fell in love, and how we married. She’s my other half. She grew up a lot with me, and I grew up a lot with her. We celebrated 38 years of marriage just recently.”

For Sharon, she thinks her story with Ozzy is one many can relate to. She hopes this biopic will show viewers the trials and tribulations she and her husband have gone through over the years.

“I hope it will be a story that everybody can relate to,” Sharon says. “You don’t have to be a fan of the music, because it’s a story about a survivor. No matter what life throws at you, you pick yourself up and you start again. It’s just an amazing story of overcoming everything that’s thrown at you in your life.”

Sharon also insists that this new biopic won’t be another “Hallmark movie.” She shares that the project will be different from recent biopics including the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

“It’s not like any other story,” she says. “It’s not like, ‘rock & roll, crazy, and now I’m a granddad.’ It’s so much more than that.”

Sharon further reveals that the biopic will tell her and Ozzy’s story as it happened. For her, she thinks the changing of Queen and Mercury’s stories in Bohemian Rhapsody greatly impacted the retelling of the band’s history.

“I get why they did that, because it was for a younger generation,” she continues. “It was squeaky clean. It was, ‘Those songs will live forever,’ and it turned a whole generation onto Queen’s music that had never heard before. So with that, it was phenomenal. But I don’t think it was a great movie. They changed the timing [of the story] and everything in it. That’s why it was, like, made ‘nice’ and that’s what made it a Hallmark movie.”

Sharon says fans can expect a biopic that is not watered down. Given Ozzy’s past with sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, this new film will be anything but “squeaky, shiny clean.”

“Our film will be a lot more real,” Sharon says. “We don’t want it to be squeaky, shiny clean and all of that. We’re not making it for kids. It’s an adult movie for adults.”

Casting for the film hasn’t begun yet. However, Sharon already has an idea of who she wants to portray her husband onscreen.

“Sharon wants to get an unknown actor,” Ozzy shares.
