Silversun Pickups issue cease and desist order to Mitt Romney campaign

Silversun Pickups' lawyer has issued a cease and desist order today to the Romney political camp for illegal use of the band's song “Panic Switch” at campaign stops.

A statement says that the song was used “[w]ithout any regard for copyright or intellectual property laws” and “without permission” and that “the band has no intention of endorsing the Romney campaign.”

Of Romney's use of the song, Silversun Pickups vocalist and guitarist Brian Aubert said, “We're nice, approachable people. We won't bite. Unless you're Mitt Romney! We were very close to just letting this go because the irony was too good. While he is inadvertently playing a song that describes his whole campaign, we doubt that 'Panic Switch' really sends the message he intends.”
