Slayer rep says Kardashians didn’t aid in $10M merch revenue this year
Slayer have commented yet again about fashion and the Kardashians after Kendall Jenner was photographed wearing one of the band’s t-shirts.
Slayer have a history of talking about the Kardashians wearing metal tees that started back in 2017.

That year, Kendall and Kylie Jennerlaunched a line of vintage tees featuring their mugs emblazoned across music icons such as the Doors, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne and more.
At the time, Metallica’s James Hetfield, Sharon Osbourne and Slayer/Exodus member Gary Holt sounded off on the items.
Then, earlier this year, Holt criticized Kim Kardashian after she posted a series of tweets that criticized companies stealing husband Kanye West’s designs.
Kardashian West began addressing the alleged rip offs on Twitter, which you can see below.
It’s devastating to see these fashion companies rip off designs that have taken the blood, sweat and tears of true designers who have put their all into their own original ideas.

I’ve watched these companies profit off my husband’s work for years and now that it’s also affecting designers who have been so generous to give me access to their beautiful works, I can no longer sit silent.

Only two days ago, I was privileged enough to wear a one-of-a-kind vintage Mugler dress and in less than 24 hours it was knocked off and thrown up on a site – but it’s not for sale. You have to sign up for a waitlist because the dress hasn’t even been made to sell yet.

This is a way to get people to sign up for their mailing list and make people believe there is some kind of relationship between me and this fashion site. There is not.
— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) February 19, 2019
My relationships with designers are very important to me. It’s taken me over a decade to build them and I have a huge amount of respect for the amount of work that they put into bringing their ideas to life.

I often plan for weeks, sometimes months, and even a year in advance, and I’m grateful for every fashion moment those designers and their dresses have helped me create.

So, as always, don’t believe everything you read and see online. I don’t have any relationships with these sites. I’m not leaking my looks to anyone, and I don’t support what these companies are doing.

Then, Holt shared a screenshot of an outlet covering Kardashian West’s tweets with a headline that reads, “Kim Kardashian goes off on fake knockoffs of her dress in fiery Twitter rant: ‘I can no longer sit silent.’”
The guitarist famously wore a “Kill The Kardashians” shirt back in 2015 (prior to the vintage tee debacle). He brought the phrase back in the midst of his caption, which you can see below.
Now, the famous family and the band are crossing paths again. The band’s publicist Heidi Robinson-Fitzgerald shut down any idea that Jenner being photographed in one of the band’s shirts has helped merch sales. Slayer are boasting a $10 million merch haul on their farewell tour this year, but they said the Kardashians are not to thank for that.
“As this is Slayer’s final tour, more fans likely want something to remember the experience, so more merch is sold, and this is a very extensive itinerary, even for Slayer,” Robinson-Fitzgerald told CNBC.

A representative from band’s managing company Rick Sales Entertainment Group also made a comment about the fashion moment by Jenner exceeding expectations of the band and the genre’s potential reach.
“You’re not supposed to see Slayer shirts on the Kardashians, or basketball players rocking Slayer t-shirts as they walk into the arena on TV,” Ernie Gonzalez of Rick Sales said. “If you said that 30 years ago, nobody could have fathomed that. The awesome thing is they never had to sacrifice any artistic integrity, never tried to tone themselves down to conform or meet the standards of what music business feels is the best path to success.”
