Slipknot recorded “another 15 songs” that won’t be on upcoming album

Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan just revealed some news about songs the band recorded that will not be featured on their upcoming album.

In an interview with Kerrang!, Crahan discussed the process of cuts and revealed that “another 15 songs that didn’t make the cut” exist.

We Are Not Your Kind drops in a little more than a week, and will have 14 songs. Besides those tracks, Crahan unveiled that “seven or eight” other tracks exist completely. It’s safe to bet that the additional 7 or 8 were abandoned during the demo process.

“There’s so much material, but all that material whittled this down to its anomaly, and to its presentation,” Crahan said. “Usually you take your collection of records, and you make an album. So we have a bunch of records, and we have to basically decide which ones of those records can make up a thought process known as ‘We Are Not Your Kind.’”

A few days ago, Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor sat down with Full Metal Jackie to talk about the importance of the band’s next album. He offered insight on the brotherhood mentality of the band, their platform, and the importance of diversity in their tour lineup.

He also discussed the album’s intended use as a continued platform on combating divisiveness.

“‘We Are Not Your Kind’ is me kind of putting my foot down as far as the divisiveness not only just the culture right now but the world at large. Everyone is so at odds with each other. Everyone is so quick to look at each other as an enemy without trying to find common ground. For our kids, for our fans, that can really be a stressful, daunting, dangerous time. It’s very dangerous for people to be different these days. I will not have it. I grew up different.

I know the pain of having to deal with being treated differently and for me, it’s one of those rare cases where I actually use my position in life to make a stand and say, ‘Guess what? It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, what you look like, what color your skin is, who you love, what you believe — we are a family because of this love for music that we have.’

And ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ represents that gathering of people together and then turning our backs towards the rest of the world and saying ‘We’re not going to let your illness, your hate, permeate us. We are not your kind. You will never be ours.’”

More Slipknot news

Slipknot have been keeping their unmasked new percussionist extremely under wraps since they made their debut.

However, fans are getting closer to figure out who it might be.

To backtrack, Slipknot revealed their new masks in the music video for their intense track “Unsainted” back in May.

Along with that unveiling, fans quickly realized that there was a ninth member in the band.

After the band parted ways with Chris Fehn earlier this year, Slipknot fans began to wonder if the band would leave the percussionist’s spot open or fill it with a new member.

While it’s clear the void has been filled, it looks like fans won’t be learning the identity of this member anytime soon.

Rumors have circulated from fans that the percussionist is actually Fehn, while others believe it to be a member of their road crew.

Then, they were recently toying with fans’ emotions over the matter, trolling us all over the identity of the mysterious ninth member.

Thanks to Reddit user Conflixshuns, we can see the words “Who is the new guy?” written across one of the drums.

Later, fans even believed they crack the code and found a photo of the new member.

The mysterious percussionist has been dubbed the “Tortilla Man” by fans in places such as the Slipknot Reddit.

Those fans now believe there is a photo of the masked musician. A photo is circulating on Reddit of a man leaving a hotel behind another member of the band.

Fans cite a similar style of shoe as the percussionist wears onstage.

Now, they have a photo of “Tortilla Man’s’ signature, signed “NG”. It surfaced on Reddit.

However, people in the comments were quick to note it probably stands for “New Guy” and not the actual initials of the new member.

Even though we seem to be getting closer to discovering the identity, we’ll just have to wait til the band decides to stop torturing us and reveal it already.
