Slipknot recording sessions are getting a little bloody

Slipknot new album updates appear to be coming at a steady pace of late, now that the group have seemingly entered the studio in earnest to complete the long-awaited follow-up to 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter. And over the weekend, a crushing display of the all-out rock ensemble’s brutal creative force was being brandished online by one band member.

“In case you’re wondering what kind of album we’re making,” drummer Jay Weinberg shared on Instagram, the Slipknot percussionist broadcasting a studio pic that shows what looks to be gobs of real blood covering the musician’s snare drum.

In case you’re wondering what kind of album we’re making

And seeing as how Corey Taylor just shared his own Slipknot studio snap the other day, it’s probably safe to assume the masked metalheads are working on some more fresh material to go along with “All Out Life,” the outfit’s recent heater of a heavy-rock jam that foreshadows the upcoming effort that will almost certainly not be a “dark jazz” album.

Not to mention, Taylor recently laid out the group’s plans for tracking the album, making no bones about further Slipknot recording time. A summer 2019 release date was earlier floated by the musician, so we’ll see how that pans out. (But, of course, sadly, in all of this info, still no confirmation of that rumored Supreme x Slipknot streetwear collection!)

Still, what we know right now is that the upcoming album might have Slipknot’s heaviest song to date, that Taylor shares “the most [he’s] shared in years,” that it will likely include new get-ups and masks, that Ross Robinson isn’t actually producing it, and that it will contain themes of “evil vs. good” (according to band creative and percussionist Clown.)
