The subject of Metallica at the Grammys didn't come until late in the show when one fan simply asked, “How do you feel about the recent Metallica and Lady Gaga performance at the Grammys?”
“I feel bad for Metallica,” remarked Taylor, “Because at this point in their career, they shouldn't have been disrespected like that.”
Metallica has won nine different Grammys along with their last six albums all peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Taylor continues saying that Hetfield's microphone was shut off during their performance.
“All of Metallica's people are not allowed to work on live performance's on television, none of us are. They have a sound producer and a whole crew of people who work on those shows and then your people work right behind them, alright? But you're not allowed to touch anything, which is horseshit because stuff like this then happens.”
Taylor continues with showing his displeasure over Orange is The New Black star Laverne Cox not introducing Metallica before they performed, but announcing Lady Gaga.

“It was just 'Oh here's Lady Gaga!' Oh, by the way, she's fucking with Metallica, you dick!” Taylor exclaimed.
Cox has since apologized for the mistake through a series of tweets shortly after the error.
I am so sorry to #Metallica and all their fans. I am told I didn't say their names during the intro. Love you Metallica. You Rock. #Grammys

I actually love metal. I used to own the black album and Master of Puppets. It was just an awful mistake. I am sorry https://t.co/F8cpZhqBjW

After the Metallica mishap, Taylor explains that his opinions regarding the music award show were “cemented.”
“We don't need your respect, we don't need you to make us feel that we accomplished something, because all you do is open our mouths and shit in it and I'm tired of tasting it. So fuck you dude.”
Taylor ends his opinion with a middle finger salute before adding one last shot.
“And by the way, I've won one, so it's not a big deal,” explained Taylor.
Slipknot won a Grammy in 2006 for Best Metal Performance with “Before I Forget.”
