Slipknot's Corey Taylor talks turning Knotfest into a touring festival

In a new interview with Jamey Jasta on The Jasta Show podcast, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has shared that the band is considering taking Knotfest on the road a bit more and turning it into a touring festival.

When talking about the festival, Jasta asked if Taylor and the rest of the masked metal act have ever considered bringing the tour on the road for a 20 to 30 date touring festival, and according to Taylor, it’s something they’ve considered:

“It’s definitely something we’re thinking about, and it’s one of the reasons why we built it the way we have. For us, it was about the foundation of the brand itself, just making sure that this was something that we could continue to build up. You don’t want to go from zero to a million.

So, it’s something that we’re definitely thinking about for certain spots in America, making Knotfest dates. And, this is important, we’re not afraid to take it away for a year and then bring it back. That’s what people don’t understand. It’s not completely gone, because we’re doing one in Colombia.

But, it doesn’t have to be a yearly thing. Do it one country one year, do it in a couple other countries the next year. It doesn’t have to be something like that so you’re constantly, constantly stabilizing your brand and making money and doing something cool. You’re also creating supply and demand.”

It was recently reported that the band will be celebrating Halloween with a band-themed haunted house in their home state of Iowa. It’s a joint effort between the group and local Des Moines attraction the Slaughterhouse.

The “ultimate nightmare come true” will feature music, characters and imagery plucked straight out of the Slipknot catalog, as reported by The Des Moines Register. And it’s an event tailor made for Slipknot’s dedicated fan base.

In addition to planning this new Halloween attraction, Slipknot have been busy bringing their highly-anticipated new album to life.

Vocalist Corey Taylor has said that 2019 is the year fans will see the band’s sixth full-length effort and first record release since 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter. And the musician’s already hinted that the new music is “Iowa levels of heavy.”
