Slipknot’s Mick Thomson has undergone spinal surgery

Following frontman Corey Taylor’s surgery last summer, Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson took to social media to share that he has undergone spinal surgery as well.

“I recently joined the cyborg club,” Thomson shared on Instagram. “Sore as fuck but hope to be back to mid 2000s banging by our next record cycle.”

Back in June, Slipknot postponed the first few weeks of their tour with Marilyn Manson and Of Mice & Men following frontman Corey Taylor’s “unplanned” spinal surgery. Read his comment on the situation below.

“Regretfully, I’m sending this to our fans to inform you that we will be postponing the first couple of weeks of our upcoming U.S tour. Unfortunately, I had to undergo an unplanned spinal surgery. I am recovering nicely, and all went well! I need a little recovery time before hitting the stage. We will start the summer tour in Nashville on 6/28 and continue as previously scheduled. An update on the rescheduled dates will be available in the next few days. I hope you all understand and thanks for always having my back! Thank you”

In an interview back in September, Corey Taylor said he believes that a fall at Ozzfest in 1999 is to blame for his spinal injury.

“I fell four feet and I landed on top of my head, and I think that is what did it,” Taylor tells Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones on his radio show Jonesy's Jukebox. “You're 24 and you don't even process that. You're like, ‘Woah, whatever. I'm too metal for pain.’” Watch the interview in full here.

Not only have Taylor and Thomson had recent spinal surgeries, though. Back in October, guitarist Jim Root had surgery for a disc replacement in his back.

“I recently joined the cyborg club. Sore as fuck but hope to be back to mid 2000s banging by our next record cycle. Should probably just have every disc replaced all the way down to be safe. Dr. Perri and the entire staff were awesome.”

Alt Press wishes Thomson a speedy recovery.
