One of Stephen King’s most terrifying horror novels, Pet Sematary is getting a remake. Paramount Pictures recently released a few set photos, which you can check out below.

Photos of the Pet Sematary set have been released to Entertainment Weekly, courtesy of Paramount Pictures. From the looks of it, the remake already appears to be reminiscent of the classic novel.

“One of the most interesting themes in the book, the original movie, and this one is, ‘How far would you go to see someone again?’” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says. “But another thing we’re exploring is how you can’t run.”

The photos include an iconic image of the Creed’s pet cat, the pet cemetery itself and the mysterious and wise Jud Crandall with Dr. Louis Creed. Check out the seven stills and set photos below.

While there are a lot of photos that allude to the subtle, yet spooky changes in the adaptation’s demeanor, photos of Zelda have yet to surface. However, according to Entertainment Weekly, a young man won’t play the role like in the 1989 adaptation. A 10-year-old actress will play the role instead.

If you are unfamiliar with the horror classic, read Paramount Picture’s synopsis below.

“Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed, who, after relocating with his wife Rachel and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.”

Since King’s remake of It turned out to be the highest grossing horror film of all time, it makes sense that Paramount Pictures wanted to take another crack at Pet Sematary.

The film and its sequel originally tanked at the box office and in reception. Hopefully, this remake will do the horror novel justice.

The remake is directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch. Originally pegged for April 19, the Pet Sematary remake is now set to hit theatres April 5.
