Why are trashcans being used in this moshpit?

Over the weekend, this band you see in the video below played a show and let's just say something far beyond your conventional mosh pit broke out. In the clip, you can see trash cans, bins and even a table being tossed not only into the pit, but into people as well. I mean, if you’ve ever heard of Bad Luck 13, then you know this stuff has been going on for quite some time, but their shows are more like prison riots. This looks like a couple friends got together, threw some large, miscellaneous items at each other and probably hugged it out at the end.
