On Saturday, Somos took to social media to announce Haggerty’s passing.

“We lost our dearest friend and guitarist Phil Haggerty earlier today. He was an immensely caring friend and an all around beautiful person, and he is gone far too soon.

Phil Haggerty forever.”

Earlier this year, the band had announced the completion of their third LP. In April, they revealed they would be returning to Tiny Engines to release the finished record in the fall.

Today, the band revealed that the new album, Prison On A Hill, would be released early for one week only. All money from the album will go to Haggerty’s family to pay for funeral costs.

You can read the band’s statement below.

“We are releasing our new record, Prison on a Hill, for one week only. All monies will be going to Phil Haggerty’s family for funeral expenses.

The record will go back up on all platforms with the official release in the next few months. For now, please consider picking it up to support Phil’s family in a time of need.

Phil poured countless hours into this record and was so proud of what we made together. I wish so badly he could be here today to share this moment.”

The album is available for this week only and can be purchased here.

Haggerty was one of the founding members of Somos, forming the band in 2009 with a high school friend.

Somos released their debut album, Temple of Plenty, in March 2014 via Tiny Engines. They followed the release with their sophomore album First Day Back, which dropped in February 2016 via Hopeless Records.

Prison On A Hill marks the band’s return to Tiny Engine.

AP sends our deepest condolences to Haggerty’s bandmates, friends and family at this time.
