When the original trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog dropped back in April, it was met with heavy criticism over what Sonic actually looked like. It was bad. The little hedgehog was weirdly human looking in the face.
Because the criticism was so loud, director Jeff Fowler tweeted about it and delayed the movie to allow for a redesign.
“Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast,” the tweet reads.

Mad props go to Paramount and the talented VFX artists for delaying the film to give us a way better Sonic design. Pushing back the release date, not putting pressure on the artists and actually fucking listening to people is way more important #SonicMovie pic.twitter.com/JCClETt3uZ
