PlayStation 5 logo revealed by Sony, internet roasts them for unoriginality

Sony revealed the new logo for the PlayStation 5 at the CES 2020 conference yesterday. After a couple of leaks showing a PlayStation 5 devkit and what might be the new DualShock 5 controller, we expected there to be news soon. However, we don’t think Sony expected the type of reaction to the logo.

The logo for the PS5 is well, exactly like that “PS5.” The internet quickly started making memes about Sony’s laziness and roasting the new PlayStation 5 logo. Check out some reactions below.

The logo was unveiled at Sony’s CES 2020 conference last night. The logo is almost exactly the same as all of PlayStation 5’s predecessors. In fact, only the number appears to be changed at all.

So there you have it. People don’t seem to be mad, it’s just really funny. Most likely, millions of dollars were spent on the design and approval of this logo. Maybe this is a good sign though. Perhaps Sony spent all their money and focus on making a great product and forgot all about the logo until the end.

More Sony

We might have just got a look at what Sony‘s new PlayStation 5 controller looks like. Leaks posted online show a devkit of Sony’s newest PlayStation. In the images, we appear to get a look at the new DualShock 5 controller. We also see the devkit of the console which shouldn’t prove to be too significant as they hardly ever look like the console that will hit the shelves.

The pictures were posted to social media by a cleaner at a company that allegedly has a PlayStation 5 development kit to test products. We got our first bit of news about the PlayStation 5 back in October and a leaked image of the devkits in December. Check out the images below.

While we have no idea which company the cleaner was at, we could speculate that it is Ubisoft. The cleaner says in the post that “my job is a cleaner occasionally at U…….” Ubisoft is one the largest video game studios so that assumption makes sense.  Check out the post below.

In the photos, we see what appears to be the DualShock 5. It looks nearly identical to the current DualShock 4, but a bit beefier. The differences between the two that we don’t get to see are pretty cool though. The new controller is expected to have “adaptive triggers”. They will change resistance depending on the in-game action you are completing.

The company gave Wired an exclusive story about the details, including the revamped controller.

“One of our goals with the next generation is to deepen the feeling of immersion when you play games, and we had the opportunity with our new controller to reimagine how the sense of touch can add to that immersion,” Ryan also wrote in the statement.

“To that end, there are two key innovations with the PlayStation 5’s new controller. First, we’re adopting haptic feedback to replace the “rumble” technology found in controllers since the 5th generation of consoles,” he continued. “With haptics, you truly feel a broader range of feedback, so crashing into a wall in a race car feels much different than making a tackle on the football field. You can even get a sense for a variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plodding through mud.”

“The second innovation is something we call adaptive triggers, which have been incorporated into the trigger buttons (L2/R2). Developers can program the resistance of the triggers so that you feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain. In combination with the haptics, this can produce a powerful experience that better simulates various actions. Game creators have started to receive early versions of the new controller, and we can’t wait to see where their imagination goes with these new features at their disposal”

The PlayStation 5 will be available around the holiday season of 2020.
