A third film in Michael Bay's Bad Boys franchise with stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence has been rumored off and on for quite some time. Lawrence confirmed right around this time last year, on Conan, that Bad Boys 3 was in the earliest stages of development. No one really suspected that a fourth film was already being considered as well, though.

However, today, Sony has confirmed release dates for both Bad Boys 3 and Bad Boys 4, which are to arrive in theaters on February 17, 2017 and July 3, 2019, respectively. Apart from those dates, very little info has been revealed at this time but it is suspected that both Smith and Lawrence will reprise their lead roles in both installments. It isn't known whether Michael Bay will return to direct or not as The Grey director, Joe Carnahan, has been rumored to be taking over the franchise, potentially as writer and director.
