This is the first time SoundCloud has ever offered live video chats which will be boosted through Twitch’s live-chat.

The new content is premiering on May 6 at 2 PM ET. It’s kicking off with a 90-minute show which Soulection founder Joe Kay is hosting titled “Studio Sessions with Soulection.”

The show is bringing “surprise guests” digging through SoundCloud in the hopes of finding the best undiscovered tracks while discussing what makes a song stand out.

On May 7, they’ll be airing a three-hour weekly live chat series they’re calling “Cloud Bar.”

Creators, industry executives and influencers are taking on topics such as building a career in music, trends, culture and more.

This week’s guests include CAA music agents, Zach Iser and Caroline Yim, artist managers Byron Wilson, Matthew Burnett and Jordan Evans, Dae Bogan of the Mechanical Licensing Collective, XXL’s Editorial Director Georgette Cline, hip-hop entrepreneur Roger Gengo, musician Vic Mensa and founder and CEO of Biz 3 Publicity Kathryn Frazier.

The live discussion is breaking into three sections. The first is looking at how the music industry is handling the COVID-19 virus and live music cancellations. The other two sections will be exploring changes in music discovery throughout the pandemic. One will focus on self-care for artists struggling with mental health, economic and other issues.

Elswehere, they’ll be bringing in two more shows on May 11 titled “Fresh Pressed” and “Fast Track.”

The first is aiming to give info on the best new tracks coming out. The second is bringing in rising artists who are creating a track in an hour or less.

“Fresh Pressed” is then airing every Monday from 2 to 3:30 PM ET and “Fast Track” is airing every other Wednesday from 2 to 3:30 PM ET.

For Twitch’s part, they’ve been working to make their resources accessible for artists and other creators to branch beyond gaming.

The company hired Spotify’s former director of Product Management Tracy Chan as its new head of Product and Engineering for Music. They also ended up partnering with Bandsintown and Soundcloud to push artists through to their affiliates platform faster so money can be earned from livestreams.

Further, Twitch is putting together a two-hour “Sessions” music and conversation series. For four straight weeks on Wednesdays at 4 PM ET, artists will be coming to provide exclusive content. Guests for the first show include CAM, Skip Marley, Steve Earle, Brandy Clark and DJ Twin Shadow. Viewers are also going to have the ability to donate to the MusiCares COVID-19 relief fund during the event.

You can see their weekly schedule as it’s updated on their site here.
