Soundgarden working on new album

Grunge icons Soundgarden have begun work on a new studio album, says frontman Chris Cornell. “We're already working on new material for an album,” the singer told Rolling Stone. “And then I've got several other irons in the fire and things going that I won't mention now. There's a lot of things coming in addition to Higher Truth, as well as a new Soundgarden album.”

Soundgarden returned from their 1996 breakup in 2010. They released a new LP, titled King Animal, through Republic/Seven Four, which marked their first release since ’96’s Down On The Upside.

Aside from working on a new Soundgarden record, Cornell is set to release his new solo album Higher Truth September 18. Additionally, he will be hitting the road in support of the LP this fall.
