Sour Patch Kids cereal exists, and you can buy it next month

Candy-inspired cereal is nothing new, but this one might be a little much.

According to a curious report from comicbook.com, Sour Patch Kids will soon be rolling out with an SPK-inspired cereal, and it’s coming to stores as early as next month (yes, you read that right.)

The sweet then sour candy-inspired cereal will be hitting the shelves of Walmart starting Dec. 26, and following its in-store debut, they will then begin showing up at “other major retailers” sometime in June 2019.

It’s unclear as to whether or not the SPK cereal will be as sour and tart and it’s candy counterpart, but as Food & Wine point out, the kids/blob-shaped sour candies will be “fruit-flavored” that will also have “a sour coating and a sweet finish.”

Lee Breslouer from Thrillist has tried the cereal, and he claims that Post has actually “nailed the sour flavors.”

He did share that not all the cereal pieces taste different from the next, but on the plus side, he shares that “the milk does not get sour” though he does say it “does retain an artificial tartness.”

But he doesn’t seem to think any of it’s a bad thing, so maybe this new cereal is actually good?

The strange new cereal flavor will be coming from Post Cereal, who teamed up with candy to bring people candy for breakfast…uhm, well, kind of.

This isn’t the first time we’ve been graced with candy companies pairing up with cereal companies to make breakfast a little more sweet (uh, sour?) As you might know, we’ve already been graced with Reese’s Puffs, Nutter Butter cookie cereals and Oreo O’s, so it’s time to add some sour treats to this list.

Of course, the news of this sour-then-sweet cereal hasn’t gone over completely well on social media, and people have questions:
