There have been rumors about the sequel since 2015 when James teased ‘90s babies about it on Twitter.

Then, producer Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) confirmed the follow up to the 1996 crossover hit starring Michael Jordan.

“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie,” James tells THR. “It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams.”

Now, James has confirmed his role and the beginning of production during an All Star Weekend interview, which you can check out below.

Last year, Springhill Entertainment, who is working on the film, teased a behind the scenes look at the Space Jam locker room that seriously put us in our feels.

In addition, Terence Nance will be directing the film. Many of the cast has not been confirmed, so it’s unclear if Jordan, Danny DeVito or Bill Murray will reprise their roles.

We’ll also have to anxiously await for a release date to really get pumped for the movie.
