'Spider-Man' fans beg Ryan Reynolds to help the Marvel superhero

Marvel fans have gone to war after learning of Sony and Disney being unable to come to an agreement over their Spider-Man franchise. After the two companies were reportedly unable to reach an agreement, the future of our web-slinging superhero in the MCU looked grim.

As fans took to social media to post about their displeasure over the whole ordeal, many turned to one person who they believed could swoop in and save Spider-Man… Ryan Reynolds.

Yesterday, reports broke out that Disney had cuts ties with Sony after being unable to “reach new terms that would have given (Sony) a co-financing stake going forward.”

Deadline reports the entire thing coming down to money.

“Disney asked that future Spider-Man films be a 50/50 co-financing arrangement between the studios, and there were discussions that this might extend to other films in the Spider-Man universe,” the report states. “Sony turned that offer down flat, and I don’t believe they even came back to the table to figure out a compromise.”

Sony later put out a statement on Twitter about the split and the future of the franchise.

“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film,” the thread began.

“We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own,” it continues.

“Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue,” the thread finishes.

Now, Spider-Man fans are turning to Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, begging him to step in and save the MCU hero.

Reynolds responded after one fan asked if a Spider-Man/Deadpool movie could be a thing.

His response was enough to bring even more tears to your eyes.

Spider-Man: Far From Home, the latest film to feature the character, just became Sony’s highest-grossing film ever. Without the MCU tie, it’s unclear how the future films will play out. As Sony stated, it is possible that they could return to negotiations, but nothing is for sure.

What are your thoughts on Spider-Man leaving the MCU? Do you think Sony and Disney will re-negotiate? Sound off in the comments below!
