'Spider-Man: No Way Home' continues strong box office performance in the new year

Sony and Marvel‘s Spider-Man: No Way Home is taking the world by storm — and it has the box office numbers to prove it. The film earned another $52.7 million over New Year’s weekend, becoming the 10th biggest film in history at the domestic box office. Earning $1.37 billion worldwide, it is also the first film of the pandemic era to clear $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has also landed itself on the shortlist for the 2022 Oscars. The film received nods for Sound and Visual Effects. Check out the film’s trailer to see what all the fuss is about here.

We also continued performance from The King’s Man and The Matrix ResurrectionsThe King’s Man earned $4.5 million for a 14-day domestic total of 19.5 million, while The Matrix Resurrections earned $3.8 million for a 14-day domestic total of $30 million.

Family movies also fared well over the holidays. Universal and Illumination‘s Sing 2 has earned $144.6 million total worldwide, while Disney‘s Encanto has earned $205.7 million total worldwide.
