The Sam Raimi directed Spider-Man trilogy of the 2000s lives in our hearts, and one dedicated fan continued the Maguire run with technology.
The technology used is known as deepfakes, and it has garnered much-deserved controversy due to its use in other applications.
While the technology itself is downright unfavorable in most instances, we can’t help but crack a smile at what it accomplished here.
Maguire’s face is superimposed on Holland’s for the entirety of the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer and it is a sight to see.
Spider-Man has been more popular recently after news surfaced that the web-slinging superhero would exit the MCU due to Disney and Sony being unable to reach a deal, the internet went into a frenzy with #SaveSpiderman posts. to a dispute between Disney and Sony over the use of the character.
Fans have created quite a bit of content due to this sad news with one moment being captured in a mash-up below.
Holland, who most recently portrayed the web-slinger spoke out about the news after it surfaced.
“Basically, we’ve made five great movies,” Holland tells EW. “It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”
