Various tracks have surpassed one billion streams on Spotify over the years. However, the top 10 most-streamed songs on the platform are all from this decade. Ed Sheeran‘s “Shape Of You” is currently the most-streamed song with 2.6 billion plays.

Following Sheeran are Post Malone and 21 Savage’s “rockstar” with 2.3 billion streams and Drake’s “One Dance” with 1.9 billion plays. The list also includes the Chainsmokers and Halsey’s “Closer” (1.8 billion streams) and Billie Eilish’s “bad guy” (1.5 billion streams).

However, there’s one particular song from the ‘90s that is being streamed on the regular these days. Oasis’ classic tune “Wonderwall” has just surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, making it the only ‘90s song to reach this accomplishment so far.

The single was originally released in October 1995 and is off of Oasis’ legendary album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? Currently, the band’s other songs are nowhere near a billion streams. “Don’t Look Back In Anger” is the second most popular track on the streaming platform with 384 million plays.

“Wonderwall” peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 after its release in 1995. However, it managed to top the chart on Alternative Airplay in the U.S. and also reached No. 9 on Mainstream Rock Radio. Eventually, the single was certified gold in the U.S. and is now four times platinum in the U.K. Not to mention, it is probably one of the most covered songs of all time.

This Spotify accomplishment for Oasis arrives shortly after the 25th anniversary of (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? The album is currently sitting at No. 3 on the U.K.’s Official Album Chart, its highest position since 1996, following its anniversary reissue.

As well, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? is one of the highest-selling albums of all time in the U.K. Noel Gallagher recently opened up on how important that album was for the band.

“You know recording [the album], nobody realized that that was our moment,” he said. “I thought our moment was the one after, that’s what I thought. I was on the train listening to [What’s The Story…] today thinking wow, actually, this is, that was my second attempt at writing an album. And the first one wasn’t fucking bad either. You know it’s been 25 years now, and there will still be, we’ll still be sat here in another 25 years, you know?”

Anyway, here’s “Wonderwall.”
