Spotify is introducing Your Daily Drive, a new personalized playlist with curated music, news and podcasts for commuting purposes.
The playlist is available for all U.S. users starting today. It mainly targets commuters in providing “a personalized audio feed that blends music and news in one place for the perfect commute experience,” according to Spotify.
Your Daily Drive incorporates elements from Your Daily Mix and Discover Weekly playlists with podcasts and news, enabling users to listen to their favorite songs, discover new music and catch the news from sources including The Wall Street Journal, NPR and PRI.
“It combines music you love with relevant, timely world updates from reputable sources—all put together in a seamless and unified listening experience,” Spotify writes.
To keep the listening experience fresh with every commute, the playlist will be updated throughout the day. It will feature the latest news briefs, podcast snippets and new music selections, a concept similar to the radio except personalized.

In Spotify’s recent effort to push the podcast market, the company has already teamed up with other podcast startups. These include Gimlet, Anchor and Parcast.
Additionally, Spotify has partnered with Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company Higher Ground. They’ll produce more exclusive podcasts in competition with other radio and streaming services. Spotify is also testing five podcast-exclusive playlists based on user listening habits.
Alongside Spotify’s new products, the company also recently tested a new feature called “Social Listening,” which allegedly enables users to compile a collaborative playlist and listen with other users in real time, regardless of location. By sharing a QR code or a link, users can join the session and control music from their devices. Although “Social Listening” is still in the works, it’ll be an exciting feature to look forward to.
