Spotify is reportedly in talks to take over SoundCloud

Spotify has been making music streaming headlines with the success over the past few months, and The Financial Times has reported that Spotify is “in advanced talks to acquire SoundCloud.”

According to The Financial Time’s report, it is still unclear how much Spotify would pay for Soundcloud, warning that  “the discussions could still collapse.”

However, reports in February showed that SoundCloud had a $44.19 million loss in 2014, with reported revenues of just $19.37 million.

Spotify, on the other hand, announced September 14 that they had reached 40 million subscribers—a 10 million subscriber increase from the 30 million paid subscribers reported in March 2016—making the streaming service leaps ahead of Apple Music’s 17 million subscribers.
