Spotify launched a brand new feature for its desktop app yesterday, allowing users to see who wrote and produced their favorite tracks. Songwriter credits will now be available worldwide allowing users to discover the unsung heroes behind their music, while giving songwriters and producers the chance to be discovered and collaborate with its fellow industry professionals.

“At launch, we’re showing information we have from record label-provided metadata, and we’ll also display the source of the credits,” Spotify says in its statement about the new update. “We realize some of this may be incomplete or may contain inaccuracies, but this is just a first step: The feature will continually evolve to provide better functionality, and incorporate more information from industry partners.”

The new feature is super easy to use. Simply right-click on a track and hit “Show Credits” from the menu options. This will pull up information on performers, songwriters and producers.

While the feature is currently only available on the desktop version of the app, it's definitely a huge step in being able to provide proper credit and adoration where it's deserved! We have our fingers crossed the feature soon becomes available on our phone as well.
