Looks like Emo Kylo Ren has a lot less to be emo about: It's being reported that the Star Wars franchise has now passed the $4 billion mark, exceeding the amount Disney paid George Lucas to purchase the property in 2012. The Mouse assuredly ain't sweatin' that hefty price tag now!

As detailed by The Hollywood Reporter, Disney and Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Stars Wars: The Force Awakens have collectively cleared $4.06 billion in worldwide ticket sales, which is the price that Disney doled out to buy Lucasfilm.
Specifically, The Last Jedi—which just opened Dec. 15—blew past the $900 million mark on Thursday, cleaning up with a total of $934.2 million in global receipts that includes its $464.6 million domestic sales and $469.6 in international tickets. And it hasn't even opened in China yet!
Clearly, the folks at Disney were paying attention when Yoda told Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back, “Do or do not, there is no try.” As the Reporter notes, Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger and co. were “lauded” by Wall Street analysts when they bought the multimedia empire.
And those aforementioned box office numbers don't even include other “lucrative ancillary revenue streams” like merchandise or theme park revenue. Even so, it did cost about $200 million alone just to make The Last Jedi, so at least the Mouse is putting its money were its mouth is.
These were definitely the droids Disney was looking for.
