Starbucks channels Christmas season into new latte flavor

At long last, Starbucks introduced a new holiday flavor into their mix of seasonal drinks. The coffee chain currently offers peppermint mocha, caramel brulée latte, chestnut praline, gingerbread and eggnog latte flavors.

Yesterday, they announced a new beverage, the Juniper Latte. In an Instagram reveal, they stated, “The notes of evergreen and roasty espresso in the new #JuniperLatte pair well with a crackling fireplace and your favorite fleece. Available in the US and Canada.”

Starbucks describes the new drink as having “a light, pine-like flavor with delightful citrus undertones.” They also top the latte with foam and a pine-citrus sugar dusting.

The flavor was originally available exclusively at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle in 2017. Now, the drink is available in participating U.S. and Canada stores as both hot and iced while supplies last.

So basically, we all get to sip Christmas straight from a Starbucks cup, and we can’t wait to warm up with this holiday beverage. Check out a photo of the new drink below.

Aside from having delicious seasonal flavors, Starbucks is using their corporate power to give back to the community in December. World AIDS Day takes place Dec. 1. Starbucks will donate 20 cents to the Global Fund for every dollar spent on lattes on that day in U.S. and certain Canadian stores.

The fund helps (RED) fight AIDS and HIV. Starbucks teamed up with (RED) for 11 years, raising over $14 million. Other donations can be made here in honor of World AIDS day.

No matter which drink you choose, it’s bound to be served in one of Starbucks’ new holiday cups. The coffee chain debuted the new designs last month.

The coffee giant says it’s “celebrating the spirit of yesteryear with a modern twist” in promotional copy for the new cups that come in three classic patterns from Starbucks’ rich history—a star, a branch of coffee cherries, and a flame—in addition to an all-new cup design for the 2018 season: a ribbon of black, white and unmistakable Starbucks green.

“We started this season by looking to the past,” says Kristy Cameron, a member of the coffeehouse chain’s creative design team. “Looking back at our heritage, we found something lovely in our own story, with beautiful coffee and flavors that come together to make the season magical.”
