Stevie Nicks makes Rock and Roll Hall of Fame history with nomination

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have announced the 15 nominees for induction for 2019, and of the names on the list, possibly the most notable was Stevie Nicks.

As it was revealed, the artist, who became inducted this year with her solo work, has become the first woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame twice.

Fans were quick to note that this wasn’t her first nomination, as she was also inducted back in 1998 with Fleetwood Mac—just a mere handful of years after they became eligible for the nomination.

With her newfound solo nomination, she became the first woman to be an inducted member of Rock Hall twice.

Following the news of her nomination, Nicks took to Twitter to share a statement, saying:

“I have a lot to say about this~ but I will save those words for later. For now I will just say, I have been in a band since 1968,” she wrote. “To be recognized for my solo work makes me take a deep breath and smile. It’s a glorious feeling.”

Earlier today, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced the 15 nominees for induction in 2019.

They included Def Leppard, Devo, Janet Jackson, John Prine, Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, MC5, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Roxy Music, Stevie Nicks, the Cure, Todd Rundgren, Rufus & Chaka Khan and the Zombies.

As Billboard notes, nine of the 15 nominees are receiving their first nomination. The new faces include Def Leppard, Devo and Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, among others.

The Class of 2019 will be honored March 29, 2019, at the 34th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The event will air on HBO alongside a SiriusXM broadcast. Tickets will go on sale in January with more information to be announced later.
