Details of 'Stranger Things' season 3 may have accidentally leaked

We’ve been (im)patiently waiting to return to Hawkins, Indiana, and while we aren’t exactly sure of what to expect when we do come back, we have some idea.

If you’ve been following any Stranger Things-related updates, you may have noticed details of the forthcoming show have been kept under lock and key.

While they’ve been kept quiet, it doesn’t mean some theories or “information” haven’t been swirling around the internet, like these possible IMDb leaks we’re about to get into.

Also, if you couldn’t tell, this post may contain spoilers, so you may want to exit and not go under the read more if you want a spoiler-free season 3 experience.

Last month, a Reddit user by the name of u/Charlie780561, noticed cast information for the forthcoming season on the show’s IMDb page.

According to the user, the page referenced several characters, including a new possible set of villains to the show. These villains? A “Russian guard,” and a “Russian soldier.”

While these were on the page, they were quickly removed from the site’s page. As the user notes, “now they are just described as Guard, Soldier, etc.”

This spoiler may have been removed from the page, but as Inverse notes, whoever edited the page following the accidental leak missed something important: a stunt performer.

According to the source, Ryan Mari is still listed on the show’s IMDb page as a stunt performer playing a “Russian Guard” for three forthcoming episodes.

Of course, it’s important to note that anyone can edit an IMDb page, so this information might not be completely accurate.

But don’t get your hopes up if you like this idea, according to Slashfilm, these accidental spoilers happen a lot of the time due to smaller production members updating their own page and accidentally sharing something they shouldn’t have.

[Spoilers] IMDB,Season 3 from r/StrangerThings

While we aren’t sure if this is completely accurate, we do have some idea of what to expect from the show!

Stranger Things 3, what we know so far:

Announced in a teaser posted to the show’s official Twitter account, Stranger Things has finally shared the episode titles for the upcoming season.

What’s more? The end of the trailer also revealed that the show is coming sometime in 2019, but an official release date further than that has not been revealed.

Check out the episode titles below:

  1. “Suzie, Do You Copy?”
  2. “The Mall Rats”
  3. “The Case Of The Missing Life Guard”
  4. “The Sauna Test”
  5. “The Source”
  6. “The Birthday”
  7. “The Bite”
  8. “The Battle Of Starcourt”

It was recently revealed in an 80’s style commercial that the show will be getting a new hang out spot for the kids and teens of Hawkins, Indiana.

The new spot will be a mall called Starcourt Mall, where you’ll find the “cool kids” frequenting, and judging from the season finale’s title, it’s going to have some intense scenes located there!

It was also reported that the show is set to be “much darker” than in previous seasons (possibly due to that horror-inspiration comment)

According to the show’s producer Shawn Levy, the show will go to some darker places than we’ve seen:

“[It’s] definitely going to get darker still, places that I think audiences are going to really love,” Levy revealed. “It’s got so much heart and humor.”

We also know that the cast will be adding three new characters into the Hawkins mix—an “alternative girl,” Cary Elwes playing the Hawkins mayor, a “handsome, slick and sleazy” ’80s politician and Jake Busey playing a local journalist with “questionable morals.”

As previously reported, the show’s producers recently shared that Season 3 will take place during the summer of 1985, a year after Season 2. Plus, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard), as well as Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Max (Sadie Sink), will begin the season as couples.

The best news, though? Producer and director Shawn Levy tells fans that Steve (Joe Keery) will have a bigger role in Season 3—and dad Steve is BACK.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, David Harbour teased that the show will be taking some inspiration from some “great films” that were released in 1985.

“If you’re a real fan of Stranger Things and you really want to know,” Harbour said. “I would go look at the great films that were released in ’85, of which there were many, and just go down that list and think of the possibilities that we could be going with. I think it is a specific season to 1985, and so you’ll see references to that.”

The third season of Stranger Things is set to debut sometime in 2019.
