‘Stranger Things’ tease season 3 with mysterious clip

It’s been relatively quiet on all things Stranger Things since the series revealed when we’d be getting season 3 as the calendar switched to 2019.

The series kicked off the year by not only revealing the premiere date but also the first poster for the new season. Now, we’re getting another mysterious look at the upcoming episodes ahead of the July 4 release.

Earlier today, the official Stranger Things account shared a video of rats on the run with the caption “it’s almost feeding time” perhaps implying a longer trailer is on the way or something quite evil is arriving.

The series wasn’t the only one to share the clip as many of the show’s stars followed suit. Our beloved Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) also added to the suspense with ST replying to each:

It’s unclear when Stranger Things will drop the full trailer, but given the rat-based teaser, many believe it will drop sooner than we think. World Rat Day is just a few weeks away on April 4, and several fans seem to think this is when we’ll see the full thing.

More on Stranger Things season 3

On Jan. 1, just a couple minute after midnight EST, Netflix took to Instagram to share a Stranger Things 3 poster featuring some of our favorites.

The top of the poster says “ONE SUMMER CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING”, and when you swipe right for more photos, we zoom in on Eleven and Mike holding hands.

The best part of the poster can be found in the bottom right corner – a release date of July 4.

“Happy 1985 (especially to Mileven fans!)” Netflix wrote in their post. “Stranger Things 3, July 4.”

Announced in a teaser posted to the show’s official Twitter account, Stranger Things has finally shared the episode titles for the upcoming season.

Check out the episode titles below:

  1. “Suzie, Do You Copy?”
  2. “The Mall Rats”
  3. “The Case Of The Missing Life Guard”
  4. “The Sauna Test”
  5. “The Source”
  6. “The Birthday”
  7. “The Bite”
  8. “The Battle Of Starcourt”

It was recently revealed in an 80’s style commercial that the show will be getting a new hang out spot for the kids and teens of Hawkins, Indiana.

The new spot will be a mall called Starcourt Mall, where you’ll find the “cool kids” frequenting, and judging from the season finale’s title, it’s going to have some intense scenes located there!

It was also reported that the show is set to be “much darker” than in previous seasons (possibly due to that horror-inspiration comment)

According to the show’s producer Shawn Levy, the show will go to some darker places than we’ve seen:

“[It’s] definitely going to get darker still, places that I think audiences are going to really love,” Levy revealed. “It’s got so much heart and humor.”

We also know that the cast will be adding three new characters into the Hawkins mix—an “alternative girl,” Cary Elwes playing the Hawkins mayor, a “handsome, slick and sleazy” ’80s politician and Jake Busey playing a local journalist with “questionable morals.”

As previously reported, the show’s producers recently shared that Season 3 will take place during the summer of 1985, a year after Season 2. Plus, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard), as well as Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Max (Sadie Sink), will begin the season as couples.

The best news, though? Producer and director Shawn Levy tells fans that Steve (Joe Keery) will have a bigger role in Season 3—and dad Steve is BACK.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, David Harbour teased that the show will be taking some inspiration from some “great films” that were released in 1985.

“If you’re a real fan of Stranger Things and you really want to know,” Harbour said. “I would go look at the great films that were released in ’85, of which there were many, and just go down that list and think of the possibilities that we could be going with. I think it is a specific season to 1985, and so you’ll see references to that.”
