Before we get into anything, Netflix has yet to announce that a fourth season is even happening yet. It’s assumed that due to the record-breaking popularity of the third season that it’s happening, but we don’t know for sure.

The brothers shared the information in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, and talked about what it’s like mapping out the next season.

According to the brothers, the fourth season already feels “very different” from season three. They added that they will “open up a little bit” in terms of plot, which means we might be seeing a lot more than just the Hawkins pool and mall.

“I think the biggest thing that’s going to happen is it’s going to open up a little bit, not necessarily in terms of scale, in terms of special effects, but open up in terms of allowing plotlines into areas outside of Hawkins.,” Matt said in the interview.

It looks like we might be waiting a while to see what they mean, but we can’t wait regardless.

As previously stated, the third season of Stranger Things just dropped. You can check out the trailer for it below.

More Stranger Things news

If you’ve already binged the third season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, you’re very familiar with Starcourt Mall.

Even though the actual mall itself isn’t real, the creators of the show did transform the real-life Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, Georgia into Starcourt.

The fan website StarcourtMall.com explained that much of the mall is now vacant, so it was used for the show.

“The Gwinnett Place Mall is a large, dying two level mall with the majority of the store fronts vacant. Because of this the production crew for Stranger Things obviously saw an opportunity to bring their vision of an 1980’s mall to life here,” it says. “They took both levels of a large wing of the mall including the completely vacant food court and turned it into a fully recreated 1980’s style mall.”

“Around March 2018, the set designers for Stranger Things came in and began the daunting task of completely transforming this large wing of the mall into a recreated and functional 1980’s looking mall,” the site continues. “By the second week of May 2018, the transformation was complete and filming began on the show.”

Therefore, the mall is kind of real and you can actually visit it, although the ‘80s-inspired stores from the show are long gone.

You can learn more about the real mall below.
