Netflix has recruited Maya Hawke as one of the new leads for the upcoming season, stating that she'll be playing the role of an “alternative girl” bored with her mundane day job. She's seeking excitement, and gets way more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins, IN.

Priah Ferguson will also shift from a guest role to a recurring role in the new season. Ferguson played Erica, Lucas' strong-willed little sister, and is said to return in the third season with an army of her own friends. She'll no longer be content with hanging on the sidelines, and instead will find herself on a wild mission to save Hawkins from a dangerous new threat.
