Second ‘Suicide Squad’ film finally gets release date

Everyone’s favorite super villains are making a comeback — well, maybe. After getting booted off of the Guardians Of The Galaxy franchise, the Suicide Squad 2 director James Gunn is currently in negotiation with Warner Bros. However, as previously reported, the “sequel” may not even be a sequel at all.

Even despite this, fans still seem curious about what is to come for the forthcoming film. Luckily, fans won’t have to wait too much longer, as the film is slated for release in August 2021.

Additionally, it looks like Gunn had already started writing the script for the upcoming film, which will now be called the Suicide Squad, emphasis on the “the.”

As mentioned before, the second installment instead may be more of a reimagining or relaunch. According to the Hollywood Reporter, sources say that the forthcoming film may welcome an entirely new cast with different characters.

The second Suicide Squad film will be Gunn’s first directorial position since his firing from Disney. Gunn was fired from the production company after a series of controversial tweets he made back in 2008 and 2009.

However, the director’s firing was not well received by many Guardians fans. In fact, they erected in a billboard in Los Angeles in an effort to encourage the studio to bring Gunn back.

Recently, we got a first look of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad spin-off Birds Of Prey. The entirely female hero group will include Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask and Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary.

Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn) opens Feb. 7, 2020.
