3. Ben Gibbard is set to host a benefit show supporting Standing Rock.
The Death Cab For Cutie frontman has organized the special event with all proceeds going directly to the Water Protector Legal Collective. The benefit show will take place on March 5 at Seattle's Showbox, and you can purchase tickets right here.
The purpose of the fundraiser is to show solidarity with the Dakota Access Pipeline protestors, and the Water Protector Legal Collective is “the on-the-ground legal team fighting to protect civil and human rights of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and its allies gathered at the resistance camps at Standing Rock, North Dakota.”
When speaking on why he's for the cause, Gibbard says: “I arranged this benefit because I was appalled by Donald Trump's executive order to reinstate construction on the Dakota Access Pipeline. I believe water is more precious than oil and thoroughly support the right of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to defend both their land and sovereign treaty rights. All proceeds from this show will go to the Water Protector Legal Collective who continue to provide legal support for Native activists and their allies throughout this ongoing fight for justice.”
Joining Gibbard will be Seattle singer/songwriter Naomi Wachira and novelist, Sherman Alexie, who will share a reading. You can have a look at the event poster below.
4. Wear Your Wounds have shared the music video for their new self-titled single!
The project of Converge frontman Jacob Bannon, Wear Your Wounds premiered their video for the song “Wear Your Wounds” today over at Decibel Magazine. It's the first from their upcoming debut album WYW, which will be available April 7 via Deathwish. The video was directed by Max Moore.
When speaking of the track, Bannon says, “The song is about the psychological effects of negative experiences, and ultimately not allowing them to define who you are and wish to be. I feel that most people can likely relate to that message in some way. The video is a recreation of the album cover and other visuals in the album. The character creates a ladder to ascend to the sky. Looking for answers, hoping for a metaphorical confrontation in some way. The character also wears a mirror, being a literal reflection of the world that surrounds.”
You can preorder WYW right here, and catch Wear Your Wounds on a few European dates this April. Check out the video for their self-titled track, and have a look at the full WYW tracklist below.

6. And finally today, Boris The Blade have released a graphic new video for “Nihilist.”
Launched over at Metalhammer, Australian deathcore group Boris The Blade have unveiled their latest music video from their most recent album, Warpath. “Nihilist” is about as gruesome as you could expect from this brutal genre, and an extended account of the video's origins can be read over at the previous link.
A couple excerpts from vocalist Daniel Sharp offer a take on the inspiration: “I wanted to have the band involved in creating the dark atmosphere the music portrays. Our first thought was the film clip for Korn's A.D.I.D.A.S. where they are dead in a car accident.
And best parts of filming: “Lighting the corpses was definitely the highlight of shooting. We had one take for it all to go to plan so the pressure was on to get it right.”
Creepy. Give “Nihilist” a watch below, and embrace your inner demons.
