“My incredibly talented wife @jaimecooper and I designed these shoes to let everyone know about their high school art program,” Cooper shared.

“#VansCustomCulture was created to inspire and empower high school students to embrace their creativity through art and design and to bring attention to diminishing arts education budgets,” Lazzara explained. “I designed this pair and now it’s your turn.”

Vans Custom Culture is a high school customization competition that brings awareness to diminishing arts education budgets. “Vans believes everyone should be empowered to express themselves creatively and should be given the tools to do so,” the company website reads.

Registration is open until Jan. 31, and all public and private schools in the United States can participate.

Each participating institution will get the chance to customize two pairs of Vans shoes around two themes, Local Flavor and Off The Wall. The five best designs will be selected; the winner gets $75,000 for their art program and the four runner up schools will receive $10,000 each.
