Taylor Swift, Brendon Urie collab loses top spot to U.K. rapper

Taylor Swift landed a smash hit with her Brandon Urie collab “ME!” but the song’s success was overshadowed in the U.K.

British Rapper Stormzy beat out Swift for the number one spot on the U.K. charts with his first ever chart-topper “Vossi Bop.”

Stormzy’s track released the same day as Swift’s setting up a battle for number one. The rapper ultimately won with his song being streamed 12.7m times in the past seven days.

“Vossi Bop” now holds the record for biggest streaming week ever for a rapper in the U.K., beating out Drake‘s “In My Feelings” by about 2 million streams. The song is the rapper’s first new music since his breakout album Gang Signs & Prayer dropped in 2017.

The track’s success left Swift in third place behind Lil Nas X‘s previous number one “Old Town Road.”

Despite ranking third in the U.K., Swift and Urie’s song has been a huge success.

The duo topped Ariana Grande‘s record for the most views in 24 hours, collecting over 65 million plays.

The pair also performed the track on the Billboard Music Awards stage for its first ever live performance. Much like the music video, their performance was pastel-filled and completed with a full marching band.

Panic! At The Disco performed at the award show as well and were nominated for four awards. P!ATD were nominated for top duo/group, top rock artist, top rock album and top rock song. Ultimately, they won top rock song for “High Hopes” right after their performance.

The track peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 while also topping other charts.
