Teens think Twenty One Pilots, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco are "cool," according to new study

Emo tunes are ~cool~ with the teens, according to a new Google study about what teens and Gen Z think are “lit.”

They define cool as “just being yourself, embracing what you love, rejecting what you don’t and being kind to others,” and in terms of music, it’s about tunes that “make them feel something.”

And Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco and Twenty One Pilots are among the highest on the cool scale today.

According to the study, “Gen Z would rather listen to music than make it, but many teenage boys are interested in making music.” On their ideal cool teen playlist, they’d include tracks from:

Twenty One Pilots
Drake
Beyonce
Fall Out Boy
The Beatles
Coldplay
Panic! At The Disco

And this study goes way beyond music. Video games top the coolness scale for boys, thinking they’re cool “not only for their storylines, wide variety and ability to escape to a virtual reality, but also for the ability to connect with friends.”

The top ranking games are:

The Legend Of Zelda
Call Of Duty: Black Ops
Grand Theft Auto
Pokemon
Minecraft
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

The coolest media platforms are YouTube, Netflix, Spotify and Hulu. Teens love shoes—particularly Jordan, Converse and Vans—and are more likely to use Snapchat than any other social media platform, with Instagram in a close second.
