There’s already a metal cover of Tekashi 6ix9ine's post-prison return song

Last week, rainbow rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine released his first song after being released from prison following a saga involving him snitching on associates over the shooting of New York rapper Casanova and after it ended up shattering streaming records, a metal band is offering up a cover of the track.

Now, Tallah is offering up a full-band metal cover of the track which saw 6ix9ine bragging about snitching on the Nine Trey gang members.

To provide some context, Tekashi 6ix9ine was originally sentenced to three years’ probation and 1,000 hours of community service in October 2018 over a case involving sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl.

In celebration of receiving probation, the rapper went for dinner with a music executive in New York City. His entourage weren’t allowed in though which led to a gunfight. His manager turned himself in and days prior 6ix9ine was supposed to drop his Dummy Boy album.

Then, he fired all of his team including management and canceled all shows. The album leaked while he was in prison after he and five affiliates were arrested.

Eventually, this led to the much-discussed snitch trial of 6ix9ine. In January 2019, other members of Nine Trey were charged. The investigation was looking into racketeering, weapon charges and conspiracy to murder.

Then, 6ix9ine plead guilty to the charges brought against him and saw a massive drop in charges under the understanding he cooperates with police.

Countless people involved in the investigation and the rap community as a whole have discussed the snitching. To most, it’s viewed as a dirty move breaking street codes.

Ultimately, 6ix9ine was sentenced to two years in prison minus the 13 months already served. Then, just a few months into his time after sentencing, the coronavirus pandemic hit.

Some prisons are giving early releases to prisoners to limit overcrowding within prison populations. At the beginning of April, 6ix9ine was released from prison as his lawyer argues his bronchitis and sinusitis put him at risk of contracting the virus.

Currently, he’s ordered to house arrest for the next few months until his sentence would be completed. Under those provisions, he’s able to create music now and did so with his comeback last week.

Last week, the rapper dropped “GOOBA” which shocked people over its abrasive attitude towards the hot topic of snitching.

The video itself features 6ix9ine transforming into an animate rat and showing off his ankle monitor. On top of that, lyrics like “N***as tweetin’ bout me, got me trendin’, bitch, you big sad / Tell me how I ratted, came home to a big bag” are doing him no favors in getting his former gang affiliates to accept him back into New York.

The song shattered streaming records with over 60 million YouTube views setting it as the most-watched hip-hop video in a 24-hour time span.

Now, a metal band is taking the song to task with a metal cover.

Tallah dropped the cover video featuring members doing many of the ridiculous dance moves 6ix9ine did himself in his video.

“We’ve always thought 6ix9ine songs would be fitting in a metal style, and now that he’s dropped a new song, we figured it would be the right time to give it a try,” says frontman Justin Bonitz.
