This new collaboration has actually been years in the making. Matt Healy first teased something was in the works back in 2019 when he tweeted that he had sent something to Charli XCX. Then, last month, No Rome confirmed that a collaboration with Charli XCX and the 1975 was on the way.

“ok some news – me, (the creator of music) charli xcx & the 1975 have a song together. . got the masters done and waiting on video edit cuts . coming out sooner than u think ok thats all for now i love u”

Finally, over the weekend, Charli XCX tweeted that she is forming a supergroup with the 1975 and No Rome. Naturally, the tweet sent pop fans into a frenzy as they waited to hear more information about the possible project.

“v excited to be forming a supergroup with @no_rome and @the1975..”

After posting various other teasers on social media, the 1975, Charli XCX and No Rome finally dropped their new collab “Spinning” on Thursday, Mar. 4. The anthemic song blends each artist’s unique sounds and styles together, creating the ultimate synth-filled pop track 2021 needs.

The 1975’s George Daniel and No Rome both produced the song. Together, they incorporated distinct, and downright infectious, pop beats that elevate the track to an entirely different level. For some, the sounds featured on “Spinning” may bring listeners back to the 1975’s i like it when you sleep… era. According to No Rome’s previous tweet, the artists may also be planning to release a video for “Spinning” in the near future.

Of course, this isn’t the first time the 1975 and No Rome have collaborated together. Back in 2018, the U.K. band appeared onNarcissist,” off of No Rome’s RIP Indo Hisashi EP. Shortly after the song’s release, the artists teamed back up for a captivating video for the song.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 1975 have canceled all of their 2021 tour dates. However, they are using their newfound time off to start working on their next album. As well, Matt Healy has been teasing that fans may get to hear new Drive Like I Do music sometime this year.
