The 1975 have debuted a brand new track from their forthcoming fourth album, Notes On A Conditional Form. Marking the second song from the album, “Frail State of Mind” hits on the topic of anxiety while sounding like an evolved-sounding “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME.”

Speaking with Zane Lowe via Apple Music’s Beats 1, Matty Healy discussed the latest track from the 1975.

“We were always reaching for the stars creatively. So there’s that but it was almost like we kind of just closed the door on the world a little bit and just went into this record. So I think there was like a fragility to us because maybe we were a little bit frightened or something. And I think that, well I mean the song’s called ‘Frail State of Mind,’ it’s about anxiety. But I think there’s like a real, it’s quite somber. It’s kind of in the middle. Like it kind of blends between euphoria and-UK Garage and yeah, it goes from a real sadness to a real euphoria.”

The 1975, Frail State of Mind

As we get more and more excited for the forthcoming album, it looks like we’re still going to have a bit of waiting to do.

When asked if the record was finished, Healy replied, “No, no, no. But it kind of keeps getting really exciting.”

While discussing Notes On A Conditional Form, the frontman also revealed the title of the next single.

“And the next one’s like a completely different tone. Like, I think that people might even, I don’t know. I’ll talk about it when I’ve thought about it more, but I really love…It’s called ‘Me and You Together Song.’ But it’s really lovely. It’s sad of course, but it’s really lovely.”
