The band released a four-track EP in 2017 titled Covered and Taped, which included covers of the 1975’s “Sex” and Justin Bieber hit “Love Yourself.”

The 1975 first released “Sex” as a single, before it made its appearance on their self-titled 2013 debut album.

Healy joined Carrabba onstage at the St Pancras Old Church in London for their cover of the popular song. The 1975 frontman shared the clip, adding “peak emo.”

More on Matty Healy

The highly anticipated fourth studio album, Notes On A Conditional Formfrom the 1975 is slated to debut on Feb. 21. Earlier this year, Matty Healy insinuated that the new album will be “sort of” emo.

Since then, the emo kings in My Chemical Romance announced their return on Halloween day (which is arguably the most My Chemical Romance thing to do.) Healy jokingly stated in an interview that “emo grandad” Gerard Way will be stealing his titled of “Emo Lord.”

“I’m not too happy about him coming back for his emo lord crown,” Healy joking said during an interview with Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1. “He’s gonna come back and try and claim it, isn’t he?”

The 1975 frontman stated that he loves MCR and will be attending their reunion show in December.

When asked about a collaboration with the emo icons, he said he “doesn’t think they would ever collab, but I don’t see why not.”
