We grew up with video games so we wanted ‘The 1975’ to be like our start up sound. Like Sega or PlayStation.

The City – No cymbals going into the chorus. First song we made that wasn’t a piece of house music that was just a series of loops. Created the idea behind The 1975 musically

The band also offered up some nice looking black and white photos along with lyrics for the songs on the album throughout the listening party.

The band’s manager Jamie Oborne also got in on the action by mentioning they will be doing this for every album each Friday leading to the new record’s release.
“Working on the listening parties with Spotify has been full of nostalgia,” Healy said in a statement. “From writing the annotations to getting together old content, it has given me a chance to revisit our old records and relive the making of them. We’re looking forward to sharing these reflections and hope it gives our fans a deeper and more immersive experience of each album.”
The band’s new album is arriving on May 22 after being delayed several times. The original release day was February 21 and later got pushed to April 24 before again delaying to May.
So far, we’ve received numerous snippets of the album. They’ve released “People,” “Frail State Of Mind,” “Me & You Together Song,” “The Birthday Party,” “The 1975,” “Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America” and “If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)” so far with the latest arriving just last week.
