The Amity Affliction announced their new record back in January. Just after that, they announced a co-headlining tour with Sleeping With Sirens, featuring Stray From The Path and UnityTX.

But now, the Amity Affliction are gearing up for record release day with their new single and video “Forever.”

Speaking on the song, singer Joel Birch says it’s about the dichotomy of thought during a depressive episode.

“‘Forever’ is a song about the dueling internal narrative while in the depths of a depressive episode,” Birch says. “On the one hand, love and support, on the other hand, thoughts of suicide, while also grappling with the follow on effect it would have. I made a promise to myself to make it to my son’s eighteenth birthday when he was three, and I intend to keep it. Hopefully, by then I will have figured out how to properly cope with what is likely a lifelong battle with Bipolar II.”

The video is equally as heavy with a live band performance in a blank room. We see others going through different emotions as the Amity Affliction rip it in the background.

“Forever” Lyrics

I’m not afraid to die
Not afraid of where I’ll go
I’m afraid of how it ends
And what it’ll do to you
There’s a knot inside my gut
‘Cause I’m not trying to give up
But the rain, yeah the rain it lasts forever
Forever in my heart

We can’t live forever
But our love will never die
Will you hold me in your heart
Be the light when it gets dark
We can’t live forever

So if it ends the way I fear
See you on the other side my dear
I am not afraid to die
But I’m afraid to leave you here
In the dark

Speaking of the new album, the Amity Affliction talked about their feelings towards heavy music and its influence on this album.

“This album is a result of our re-found love for heavy music,” the Amity Affliction says. “We wanted to make a heavier album to back up our most recent releases to let our fans know that we understand what the majority want to hear from us. We have experimented creatively over the years and are now able to apply what we’ve learned to what we consider the perfect blend of Amity new and old.”
