‘The Amityville Murders’ gets a chilling first trailer – watch
Get ready to go back to the start of it all, thanks to the new trailer for "the Amityville Murders."December 28, 2018
The holidays may be wrapping up, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get a good horror movie trailer to scare us into the new year.
Dropped today, Skyline Entertainment has revealed the trailer for their brand new film, the Amityville Murders, which (as you probably guessed it) is a prequel film to the horrifying 70s classic the Amityville Horror.
The film, which is the product of writer and director Daniel Farrands, is set to chronicle the horrific story that predated the story told of the Lutz family, which was told in Jay Anson’s 1975 book The Amityville Horror, and later the 1979 Stuart Rosenberg film under the same name.
According to a report from Collider, this new flick is going to go back to the start of it all, where it’s set to detail the horrific true story of Ronald “Butch” DeFeo Jr., who reportedly murdered his family with a .35-calibre rifle while they were sleeping in the Amityville house.
Following the incident, DeFeo claimed that he was hearing voices in his head, who told him to commit the horrific murders.
With this knowledge in mind, it seems that the first trailer of the film is going look at the case through the “supernatural” examination of what caused DeFeo to follow through with the act, rather than any sort of legal/crime retelling.
The Amityville Murders stars John Robinson (Elephant), Paul Ben-Victor (Daredevil), Diane Franklin (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure) and Chelsea Ricketts (Crooked Arrows.)
The film is slated to make its theatrical debut, while also hitting VOD and Digital HD the same day, on Feb. 8, 2019.
You can read the film’s official synopsis and check out the new trailer below!
“On the night of November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. took a high-powered rifle and murdered his entire family as they slept. At his trial, DeFeo claimed that “voices” in the house commanded him to kill. This is their story.”
