The Bronx team up with Tim Armstrong for "Breaking News - Live"

The Bronx have released a live version of “Breaking News,” a track from their latest release Bronx VI. Alternative Press is bringing you the premiere.

The live version was recorded by Rancid’s Tim Armstrong and features the Bronx jamming out in a video set in black and white.

Fans of Rancid will quickly pick up this artistic decision as a nod to numerous Rancid music videos in a similar hue.

Caughthran made it clear that the parallel was not an accident, but something inspired by their respect for Armstrong.

“What can you say about working with a legend like Tim Armstrong?” The Bronx vocalist Matt Caughthran says. “As an artist and musician, he is completely in a league of his own. Recording the live version of ‘Breaking News’ with Tim was everything a punk recording should be: fast, live and real. We hit it off right away, and getting him to shoot the video in that classic black-and-white Rancid style was icing on the cake.”

Similar to other singles from Bronx VI, the Bronx are releasing a limited-edition seven-inch of “Breaking News.” This one also features a cover drawn by Armstrong.

The Bronx have gone out of their way to collaborate with friends on a number of projects. Dogtown’s Craig Stecyk contributed unique glyphs for a Bronx VI skateboard, and LA/Australian duo DabsMyla’s provided imagery for “Superbloom.” In addition, U.K. artist Gary Stranger provided artwork for “Peace Pipe,” while designer Jeremy Dean created a “White Shadow”-themed NFT, and Estevan Oriol directed a video for “Curb Feelers.” Finally,  tattooer-designer Tokyo Hiro developed a trio of original paintings, inserted at random in “New Lows” singles.
