The Ghost Inside rise like a Phoenix in Jordan Buckley-designed gig poster

Every Time I Die guitarist Jordan Buckley teamed up with the Ghost Inside in designing the flyer for the band’s upcoming “one night” only show in Los Angeles.

Buckley—not only a talented guitarist but also a stellar artist—revealed the flyer on his social media. With a fiery Phoenix spreading its wings over the band’s logo, Buckley’s illustration shows his distinct art style. The imagery is similar to a previous photo the band used in promoting the show, but this time Buckley gave it his own spin.

“ETID started this year with five months off,” Buckley wrote in an Instagram post. “It was literally the longest break we’d ever had in the entire history of the band, and it was fuckin’ weird. Sure, I really spruced up the backyard and rewatched The Sopranos and got to help lay a foundation for our son’s transition into boyhood that will wire how he interprets the world around him whether he knows it or not until his very last day on earth and all that bullshit, but it was still weird.

“Long story short, I don’t have the mental strength to do what @theghostinside did. I know how passionate they are, and to so unfairly not be able to take the stage for four years. I’m about to have a conniption just thinking about it. If we didn’t have a show that day I’d be there front and center. Maybe not front and center, but I wouldn’t be an all-access stage potato either. I’d probably be getting my ass whooped on the outer edge of that pit area. But since I can’t be there it was an honor to at least be able to make this poster that will be for sale at the show.”

The Ghost Inside frontman Jonathan Vigil responded to Buckley’s post. “Means a lot dude,” he writes. “I’ve always looked up to you and ETID. Paving the way for bands like us to do this, and enjoy it. So happy you were a part of the comeback.”

The band will perform their “one night” only show July 13 at The Shrine in Los Angeles. As evidenced by the poster, The Ghost Inside are keeping their openers a secret. Because this is the band’s first show in four years, tickets for the show sold out within five minutes after the announcement.

In late 2015, the Ghost Inside were involved in a serious bus accident that claimed the lives of their driver and everyone in the other vehicle. Drummer Andrew Tkaczyk lost his leg from the accident, and the rest of the band and crew members were hospitalized in critical condition. The band survived the accident but have faced an arduous road to recovery since then.

Following the “one night” show announcement, Kevin Lyman tried to book the Ghost Inside for Warped Tour’s 25th anniversary, but the band stuck to their own plans for their one-time comeback.

“I tried, I tried, I tried, I tried. But their manager said they were going to do their own thing. I tried. I really tried.” Lyman said. “But it’s absolutely so good to see them back. Absolutely. I’m hoping to get down and see their comeback show. And I always hold open a spot for them on the [Warped] lineup. And I’ve always said to them that they are welcome on this show.”

Buckley has designed apparel, prints, tour posters and album art for his band’s fifth album, New Junk Aesthetic. His flyer will be available for purchase at the show July 13. You can check out his other work here.
